Mahan Esfahani: The Art of Fugue (26 September)

“One of today’s most thrilling harpsichordists” according to Gramophone Magazine, Mahan Esfahani returns to Hong Kong with one of his most sought-after programmes – Bach’s The Art of Fugue. Following his extremely well-received performances in Hong Kong for Premiere Performances in 2019 (with violinist Jennifer Pike) and 2020 (in the Brandenburg Concertos), we are thrilled to finally bring Mahan Esfahani for his first solo recital in Hong Kong!

Esfahani is the first and only harpsichordist to be a BBC New Generation Artist (2008-2010), a Borletti-Buitoni prize winner (2009), a nominee for Gramophone’s Artist of the Year (2014, 2015, 2017), and on the shortlist as Instrumentalist of the Year for the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards (2013, 2019).

The Art of Fugue is a showcase of Bach’s compositional genius, and encapsulates all of Bach’s discoveries and achievements on a single musical subject. Mahan Esfahani will be bringing this programme direct from his recital at Wigmore Hall (London), where he also received the Wigmore Hall Medal, which recognises major international artists and significant figures in the classical music world.

Plínio Fernandes Guitar Recital: Sounds of Old and New (30 October) Hong Kong Début!

Selected by Classic FM as one of their “30 brilliant musicians under 30” in 2022, Brazilian guitarist Plínio Fernandes is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after rising stars in the classical music scene.

The young guitarist was signed by record label Decca Gold, releasing his début album ‘Saudade’ in July 2022, which features a range of Brazilian composers. Brimming with youthful excitement and enchanting lyricism, the album reveals an artist full of heart and wide-ranging expression. Also included on the album is a duet with British cello superstar Sheku Kanneh-Mason.

In his upcoming Hong Kong début, Plínio will perform a mixed programme of old and new. In addition to his signature Brazilian repertoire, he will also showcase his classical virtuosity with works by English Renaissance composer John Dowland and Spanish Romantic composer Fernando Sor.

Gold Medal Pianist Tony Siqi Yun Recital (24 November)

With playing that combines poetry and elegance, Canadian pianist Tony Siqi Yun came into the limelight of the classical music stage after winning the First Prize and Gold Medal at the inaugural China International Music Competition in 2019. The charismatic young pianist has since made his recital débuts for prestigious series around the world including at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Düsseldorf, Luxembourg, Hannover, Stanford University, Vancouver Recital Society and more.
