The Viva! Pipers are back with Prokofiev’s family classic “Peter & the Wolf” – a fascinating story about the two title characters and a crowd of animals, each represented by different (combinations of) instruments in the quintet and narrated by the musicians themselves. Together with an additional selection of pieces to complement the programme, this concert is a great way to experience the descriptive ability of music and to spark children’s imaginations.

Suitable for ages 5+.  Narration will be in Cantonese only.

About the Viva! Pipers

Viva! Pipers is a wind quintet of talented musicians from Hong Kong. As Premiere Performances’ first in-house ensemble for its Chamber Music in Schools programme, they have received extensive training with experts at Musica Viva Australia to help them deliver world-class educational performances. The quintet comprises flute, clarinet, oboe, French horn and bassoon, and is known for their highly interactive presentations – living up to their name – as “viva” means “alive”, “vibrant” and “energetic”.

Formed in 2014 for Premiere Performances’ Chamber Music in Schools programme, the group has given over 110 performances at schools and visited more than 32,700 students. In addition, the group has given numerous sold-out Family Concerts in different venues across Hong Kong, including Sha Tin Town Hall (2016), Tuen Mun Town Hall (2016), Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre (2018) and Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre (2019), receiving great acclaim and enthusiasm from the audience. Since 2019, the Viva! Pipers’ school tours has been sponsored by BNP Paribas.
