“Sheer perfection… [Soltani] has all the qualities needed to win consistent critical acclaim… Listening to him is a great pleasure.”Gramophone

“He’s a remarkable cellist, with a piercingly beautiful tone and utterly pure intonation.”
The Times

Praised by The Times as a “remarkable cellist” and by Gramophone as “sheer perfection,” Austrian-Iranian cellist Kian Soltani has firmly established himself as a leading voice among today’s generation of cellists.

Kian Soltani first burst onto the scene as the winner of the International Paulo Cello Competition in 2013. A protégé of Anne-Sophie Mutter and Daniel Barenboim, Soltani’s expressive depth, unique charisma and flawless technique have earned him an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon and prestigious honors, including the OPUS KLASSIK Award, the Leonard Bernstein Award and the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award.

Kian Soltani is a frequent collaborator with the world’s leading orchestras, including the Munich Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Chicago Symphony, among others. As a recitalist, Soltani is also a frequent guest at prestigious venues and festivals, including Wigmore Hall, the Musikverein and the Verbier Festival.

This superstar cellist will begin the concert with Persian Folk Songs by Iranian composer Reza Vali, followed by one of Schubert’s most famous pieces, Arpeggione, and conclude with Rachmaninov’s Cello Sonata. He will be partnered by Korean pianist Jae Hong Park, the winner of the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition.

Kian Soltani will be making his Hong Kong recital debut with this concert.
