Award-winning pianist Chiyan Wong’s recital with Premiere Performances in April received rave reviews. In collaboration with MCL K11 Art House, Premiere Performances of Hong Kong (Premiere Performances) presents the concert film “Encore!” –  a documentary and live recording of the acclaimed recital.

Premiere Performances’ first concert film celebrates the long-awaited return of live music. Despite a three week hotel quarantine, Berlin-based pianist Chiyan Wong returned to his hometown in March 2021 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and gave a heart-felt recital to live audience. For the first time in almost six months, classical music lovers gathered in a concert hall again for the inspiration of a live music performance.

As the centrepiece of his stunning programme, the award-winning pianist shared his unique interpretation of Busoni’s kaleidoscopic arrangement of Bach’s classic Goldberg Variations. South China Morning Post said “Pianist Chiyan Wong shows masterful touch in Bach-Busoni Goldberg Variations…featured playing of tenderness and beauty”. As reviewed by Dennis Wu on The Stand News, Wong’s recital was a reminder that “we need to attend a concert and listen to music played by a human of flesh and blood”.

The film will be screened in 4K resolution with 5.1 surround sound. The film presents the recital together with exclusive interviews from the perspective of the artist, the presenter and audience members.
