A powerhouse evening with Ulysses Owens Jr., direct from Jazz at Lincoln Center
This April, join three-time GRAMMY™ Award-winning drummer and composer, Ulysses Owens Jr., for an electrifying performance at the Tea House Theatre, Xiqu Centre, together with his band, Generation Y.
Hailed as a drummer who “takes a back seat to no one” and “balances excitement gracefully while shining with innovation” (The New York Times), Ulysses Owens Jr. has established himself as one of the leading figures in today’s jazz scene, with eight successful albums of his own. Renowned for his masterful command of percussion, vivid display of textural nuance and innovative compositions, Owens is a veteran collaborator with jazz luminaries including Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Gregory Porter, Wynton Marsalis and many others.
Generation Y, Owens’ latest project, unites a lineup of extraordinarily young talents: pianist Jake Nalangan, saxophonist Langston Hughes II, trumpeter Anthony Hervey, and bassist Langston Kitchen. Owens’ recent album with Generation Y, A New Beat, has been #1 on the JazzWeek Radio Charts for 8 weeks and was featured on playlists on Tidal Jazz, Apple Music and Amazon Music. This combination promises an exhilarating evening of jazz standards and modern jazz tunes.
Each ticket includes a complimentary beverage (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available), and drinks are also available for sale on the night at the venue.
The 7pm and 9pm performances feature different sets. Book tickets to both performances in one transaction and enjoy a $50 discount.
